Faculty of Information Technology

Introduction

The Department of Information Technology (DoIT) was founded on September 16th, 2013, with 09 lecturers. Currently, DoIT has 08 Ph.D. (01 Assoc. Prof.), 10 MSc, and 01 BE (teaching assistant), most of whom graduated in countries with developed science such as the US, France, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Taiwan,… DoIT offers 02 Bachelor of Engineering and 01 Master of Science study program in Information Technology. Our lecturers also participate in teaching, evaluating education programs, and training activities of postgraduate students from colleges and universities in the Mekong Delta and the Southern Region of Vietnam.

Education

Our primary teaching majors are Information Technology, including the Bachelor of Engineering and the Master of Science degrees. Our department also offers a high-quality program in Information Technology (bachelor’s degree). Our bachelor of engineering program in Information Technology was started in the school year of 2010-2011. This program is built based on the curricula recommendations from the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) with approval from the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training and has been improved periodically ever since. In 2018, our study program in Information Technology fulfilled the assessment criteria from ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). Our high-quality Bachelor of Engineering study program in Information Technology has also developed on that foundation since 2016.

Our Bachelor of Engineering in Information Technology degree program (IT) trains students to be IT engineers with good ethics, knowledge, and communication skills who are able to develop IT products and solutions, take on many career roles in the IT field, advance to leadership positions, conduct research, or pursue higher education in the field.

Upon completion of our Bachelor of Engineering degree program in IT, students can be able to:

  • Manage the IT system of an organization or business;
  • Advise organizations and companies on the selection of appropriate IT products and solutions;
  • Predict the development trends of IT to make the right decisions for organizations or individuals;
  • Develop software on multiple platforms using different methodologies;

In addition, IT engineers may also undertake the role of officers in research and applying IT or IT lecturers. Currently, many of the graduates of our programs are employed. Many have significant positions in big companies and enterprises with IT projects. They can also open their own private companies to work in developing IT projects or IT-related products.

Our Master of Science study program in Information Technology trains graduate students with expertise and new technologies in IT, focusing on the following fields: digitalization, IT project management, e-business technology and management, network security policies and administrations, new technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain,… Besides technical expertise, graduate students are also trained in the required skills to adapt to the constant changes of new technologies, working in groups, cooperating, self-learning, self-researching, and critical thinking with in-depth problems that are in the IT field. After graduating from our program, graduate students will have enough knowledge to continue studying for the Ph.D. level or become lecturers, researchers, and experts who can consult, support, transfer technology, supervise, and conduct research topics in computers and IT.

Researching

Our faculty members have experience supervising, participating, consulting, working on, or critiquing topics at many levels, and plenty of these have been applied in practice. In particular, our faculty members have supervised and participated in scientific research topics in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Network Security… Currently, some topics are widely used and efficiently applied in practice. In addition, our faculty members also supervise and participate in many scientific research topics in cooperation with the government in Can Tho city and some other cities/provinces around. Many scientific articles/reports have been published in prestigious journals and conferences on the ISI/Scopus list. Our faculty members also participate in research, cooperation, support, consultancy, and technology transfer in IT with partners in Vietnam and foreign countries.

DoIT’s main goal by 2030 is to become a prestigious department in education and scientific research in IT, playing a central role in teaching, research, and technology transfer in the Mekong Delta and the southern region of Vietnam. We would like our study programs to expand in scope and form constantly and consistently meet the assessment criteria of AUN-QA, the standard of advanced universities in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

We are always pleased to receive cooperation and support from domestic and foreign authorities, companies, and partners in education and scientific research. We invite you – as an employer – to come and share your experiences and expectations of education with us and join us in educating, evaluating, and quality verification of education. We are also happy to cooperate with you in consulting and developing IT projects in management, education, and other areas.
