The history of the College of Information and Communication Technology (CICT) at Can Tho University is closely tied to the university's development strategy during different periods. The precursor to CICT was the Electronics and Computer Science Center established in 1990, followed by the Faculty of ICT established in 1994. Since its establishment, the Faculty of ICT has become one of the seven key faculties in the ICT domain in Vietnam. In 2022, the Faculty of ICT was upgraded to the College of ICT under Resolution No. 73/NQ-HĐT of the Can Tho University Council, Decree No. 99/2019/NĐ-CP of the Government and the Law on Higher Education (34/2018/QH14).
Upgrading the Faculty of ICT to the College of ICT (a.k.a. ICT-Specialized University) has brought about several advantages and positive impacts.
